Privacy
I don't track you. This site has no cookies and only counts visits anonymously, and Gain Curve never sends your recordings anywhere. Here's the little that does leave your Mac, and where it goes.
- When you buyStripe takes the payment and keeps your name, email, country and card. I see your name, your email and what you bought, which is how your key reaches you. I never see your card.
- When you activateGain Curve sends your key, your Mac's name (so you can tell your two Macs apart) and a one-way code made from its hardware ID. They're stored with your purchase in Stripe. After that, the only thing it sends is the update check below.
- Update checksOnce a day the Mac app and the plug-ins ask gaincurve.pvt-studio.com whether there's a new version, and tell license.pvt-studio.com which version you have, whether it's a trial or licensed, which edition it is (app, Audio Unit or VST3) and a random install number. That number is made up on your Mac the first time, isn't tied to you, your Mac's hardware or your key, and is only used to count how many people use Gain Curve and how many start a trial. No name, no email, no recordings, and the count doesn't keep your IP address. To turn it off, untick Gain Curve › Check for Updates Automatically in the app: that stops the update checks and the count, for the plug-ins too.
- DownloadsThe download button goes through license.pvt-studio.com, which adds one to a count for that day and sends you the file. Only the count and the file name are kept: no address, no cookie, nothing about you.
- Your recordingsStay on your Mac. Gain Curve does all its work there.
- TranscriptsMade on your Mac, in the app: your recording and what's said in it never leave your computer. The first time you use it, the app downloads a speech model once from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), an ordinary download: Hugging Face sees the request, as any website would, and nothing about your recording is sent. Transcripts are kept in your Mac's cache folder so they're there next time; deleting the folder removes them.
- Student codesYour school email is used once, to check it's a school address and to send the code through Resend. I keep only a scrambled version of it, so one address can't collect a pile of codes.
- Launch listIf you ask to hear when Gain Curve is out, your email is kept in Resend, the service that sends my email. You get one email at launch, then I delete the list.
- EmailYour key, and my replies when you write to me. No newsletter.
- On iPhone and iPadYour recordings, from the microphone or opened from Voice Memos or Files, stay on your device, and nothing is uploaded. The free trial and the unlock go through Apple's App Store: Apple takes the payment, and I receive no payment details. No account, no tracking, no analytics.
- NewsletterIf you sign up for news, your email is kept in Resend, the service that sends my email, and used only for that list: new tools from PVT Studio and the occasional recording tip, a few emails a year. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or write to office@pvt-studio.com and I'll take you off.
- This websiteHosted on Vercel, which keeps ordinary server logs for a short time. I use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and clicks on the download and buy buttons: it sets no cookies, doesn't follow you to other sites, and identifies no one (visitors are counted with a hash that changes every day). I see totals, which pages were read, the referring site and the country. No ads, no tracking pixels.
- Deleting itWrite to office@pvt-studio.com and I'll delete what I hold. Stripe keeps payment records for as long as tax law requires.
